2012 marked the third publications about Cultural Conversation's core programming and its mission as a new works festival. Cultural Conversations: Stop the Violence/Start the Conversation joined Body Language: Cultural Conversations Reaching Out and Reaching In as a "How-To Manual" and a "How We Did It" story. Authored by CC's Artstic Director Susan Russell and the community and educational professionals she collaborated with, these books are designed to provide a working template for any school or community organization looking for a program that empowers young people to engage with their societies and cultures. Designed to adapt to any social issue, these texts provide exercises applicable to middle, junior, high school, and university students that teach how to observe a culture and make active choices about how they wish to live in it. The 2011 season of Cultural Conversations featured the debut of the academic journal Cultural Conversations: Works in Progress and Writers in the Making. This journal features professional and student plays from past seasons, as well as articles by professional playwrights, scholars, and current playwriting students. Both publications can be purchased through this website at our Contact Us Tab, and all proceeds from the sales go to Cultural Conversations and The Body Language Project.
